Overwhelmed, stressed or depressed we want to just escape and think we need a place far away to be at peace once again. But the truth is that life is about finding those ways to check in with yourself and to ground yourself - at any time and in any place, also especially in the middle of the city. Let my collages inspire you to find your own way of Urban Grounding.
Finding peace and quiet in the midst of a challenging environment, getting in touch with yourself, seems difficult at first glance, because you usually want to escape to a quiet place, perhaps into nature. But sometimes it's all about a little safe space within yourself. It's about these very short and easily achievable, but very effective moments of mindfulness. Also a good reminder that it usually doesn't take much. We "just" need to remember it and create that little space for it.
I asked all of you a while ago what you do to achieve Urban Grounding, meaning how you manage to ground yourself in the middle of the city? Your answers inspired this collage series. Making those collages is also one of my grounding practices where I sit with a lot of patience and presence with a scissor and a lot of newspapers and magazines.
Let them speak to you and touch you on a deeper level. When you look at them, maybe you get a familiar feeling that inspires you to go outside. To ground yourself - in your very own way.
# Go for a walk. alone. no matter the weather. your feet on the ground.
# Look far far away. at the horizon. between gravity and lightness.
# Find those green, peaceful refuges. and breathe. and sense.
# Open your window. step on your balcony. feel the air on your face. connect.
# Dive in. into the water. into it all. surrender.
# Lay down. on the gras in the park. on your carpet. let go.
Which one can you relate to the most? What is your very own way of grounding yourself?
